Chiran Town is located in the center of the Satsuma Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture, now part of Minamikyushu City. The tea fields are spread out at an altitude of about 200m.
The tea fields, sandwiched between mountains and rivers, create a flavor unique to Kagoshima thanks to the fog and temperature differences.

In the vast tea fields of Chiran Town, Kagoshima Prefecture, tea leaves are harvested by tractor.
Tea harvesting is hard work, so Kagoshima Prefecture has been a pioneer in mechanizing the process. Mechanization seems essential for passing the work on to successors.
