Chiran Town is located in the center of the Satsuma Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture, now part of Minamikyushu City. The tea fields are spread out at an altitude of about 200m.
We carefully and painstakingly grow tea in tea fields that spread across vast swaths of land.

In the vast tea fields of Chiran Town, Kagoshima Prefecture, tea leaves are harvested by tractor.
Tea harvesting is hard work, so Kagoshima Prefecture has been a pioneer in mechanizing the process. Mechanization seems essential for passing the work on to successors.

From blended tea to original tea

In the past, Kagoshima tea was often used as tea to be blended with Shizuoka tea, etc. In recent years, Kagoshima Prefecture has made progress in improving the quality and developing unique teas, and today it is known as one of the leading tea producing areas in the country.

Once picked, the tea leaves are rolled for five hours until 60 kg of them are turned into tea.
